SURALAYA GENERATION BUSINESS UNIT

The Suralaya Generation Business Unit is one of the PT Indonesia Power's generating stations. It is the largest coal fired station in Indonesia which produces approximately 50% of the entire PT Indonesia Power production. It supplies about 25% of the energy of Java Bali.

At full load, the fuel requirement is about 30, 000 ton of coal per-day with the specific fuel consumption of 0.46 kg/ kWh. The coal is supplied by mostly Bukit Asam Coal Mining Company, South Sumatera. The units also use diesel oil (HSD) for starting and main fuel oil as a back up.

The Suralaya Generation Business Unit was built in three stages which totally has 7 Generating units. The first stage is 2 units, operated in 1984, the second is 2 units, operated in 1989 and the third is 3 units, operated in 1997.

The Suralaya Generation Business Unit sits on a 239 hectares with facilities including central building (78 hectares), ash valley (8 hectares) and housing complex (30 hectares) while the rest consist of hills and jungle.
